To all those who want to be a Millionaire,
Firstly this article is for those who equate having financial wealth to success.
Who does not want to have the money that they always romanticised? Everyone. But is it truly possible?
Let me narrate a simple situation.
There are 2 bottles. The first bottle of 500 ml is filled to its full capacity & the second bottle of 1000 ml is filled only up to 200 ml. If we compare, the 500 ml bottle has reached its potential whereas the 1000 ml bottle has not only not reached its potential but also reached less than what 500 ml bottle has achieved.
We humans are also like this. Each one of us has a different capacity. Some of us perform up to our full potential and some of us don’t as we don’t utilise our skills and opportunities well enough.
“While overstretching we should be careful not to jeopardise our mental health, self care relationships and happiness.”
The ones performing up to their full potential may question
- What about breaking limits
- What about breaking the glass ceiling
- What about increasing my potential.
The answer is Yes. We should not settle for less in life. Yes it is most certainly possible to achieve more than what you think your capacity is.What I explained is not to tell you to settle, it is not to tell you that you cannot achieve what you want. But, it is for you to consider the fact that sometimes achieving the things you want will always come at the cost of something.
Success has different meanings for different people.
We should know that over stretching beyond our capacity, comes with a cost. We lose balance in life. Hence, while overstretching we should be careful not to jeopardise our mental health, self care relationships and happiness. When you lose balance in life. You no longer can focus on a wholesome and overall growth but only in one area of your life. If the price you pay to achieve becoming a millionaire is at the cost of your mental health, self care, relationships and happiness then maybe you should reconsider redefining what success means to you.
While that is said, be ambitious, break the glass ceiling and reach for the stars but make sure it’s not done at the cost of your happiness, mental health, valuable relationships and self care.
The only thing that will make you sacrifice your happiness, mental health, valuable relationships and self care is not ambition but greed. And ofcourse, the greatest minds of thinkers, philosophers, scientists and religious teachings have taught us that the root cause of misery is the never unending greed of mankind.
Now for those who feel like they are performing far below their potential, this is not an excuse for you to accept things as they are, please be ruthless to smash your inhibitions, inertias & insecurities. You have one life. Know your potential. You deserve to perform at your full potential. Don’t compare yourself with others and settle down for less.
And for those of you who feel like you are performing up to your full potential and are taking care of their mental health, self care, relationships and happiness – Kudos to you, the rest of us will meet you there soon!
Stay ambitious. Perform to your full potential. Don’t compromise. Then, you are not just a Millionaire.
