Submission Guidelines:

We are looking for creative, original, thought-provoking, enriching entries that our young readers will recall for a long while to come.

  • Language: English
  • Limit: 600-1000 words for articles, poetry, essays and blogs

General Guidelines

  • All submissions of writing and artwork will be considered for publication on Your Voice Matters and in our monthly newsletter – YouthPost, and are also automatically entered into any relevant contests.
  • There are no deadlines for your write-up. We accept submissions year round.
  • You must be 13 to 21 years old to be a YouthConnect member and submit your work.
  • All materials submitted become the property of YouthConnect. By submitting your work to us, you are giving Your Voice Matters and YouthPost the right to publish your work in any format, including print, electronic, and online media.
  • We have a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. We check the originality of all published work.
  • Entries for the contests will be judged by the editorial team whose decision shall be final. No further correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
  • Posting is great, but we want to make sure you do it respectfully! Please remember that everything you post is public.
  • We are trusting you as an author to make sure that everything you write about is accurate, and we can’t be held accountable for mistakes that you make, so please make sure to fact-check your write-up!

  • Environment
    This subtopic would include work related to the natural world, as a whole or in a particular geographical area, especially as affected by human activity, or the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
  • Employment
    This subtopic will include work related to the state of having paid work; it’s conditions, consequences, causes and everything the issue can surround in a nutshell.
  • Gender Equality
    This subtopic will include work related to ‘Gender Equality’ as a human right; emphasising on how everyone is affected by gender inequality- women, men, trans and gender diverse people, children, and families.
  • Culture
    This subtopic will include work related to the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of particular persons or society, including the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.
  • Health
    This subtopic will include work related to ‘Health’ as a state of physical, mental and social well-being, which may/may not include disease and infirmity.
  • Human Rights
    This subtopic will include work related to the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, from birth until death; emphasising on its implementation, consequences, obstacles and everything that can be covered related to the sub-issues.
  • Innovation and Technology
    This subtopic will include work related to the ‘Technological Innovation’ that reflects the business consideration of improving business value by working on technological aspects of the product or services. It is the combination, the integration and the interaction of different technologies that make the product or service successful.
  • Personal Growth
    This subtopic will include work related to ‘Personal Growth’ as a process by which a person recognises themself and continually develops themself to reach their full potential; it’s considered to be an important part of a person’s growth, maturity, success and happiness.
  • Violence and Conflict
    This subtopic will include work related to the strength of emotion or of a destructive natural force and behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something; allowing you to cover a large area of points of focus within the subtopic.

 

Submitting Written Work:

  • Your writing may be edited and we reserve the right to publish our edited version without your prior approval. We may choose not to publish sensitive personal articles.
  • If there is any reference to a real-life person, study or event, please mention the reference source and method, or include the URL. Please verify all facts, wherever necessary. Un-fact-checked articles will not be accepted.
  • An author may submit any number of manuscripts. However, each must be submitted separately.

  • YouthConnect has a no-tolerance policy for plagiarism. We check the originality of all work.
  • Adding a title to your submission is mandatory!

 

Submitting Art and Photos

  • Submit only your original work. Do not submit a version of someone else’s work or a drawing of a copyrighted character.
  • Submit your work in high resolution as a .png or .jpeg file.
