Global change leader – Guidelines for members
Youth connect members from the ages of 13-21 who are passionate about education & learning, the environment, and global development are welcome to apply for the Global Change Leader programme (GCL), which supports youth-led community projects through grant funding and training workshops. YC is proud to be one of the few global organisations that offer accessible grant funding to young people. The focus of the program is on nurturing and developing participants through mentoring, advice and opportunities for personal growth. Instilling a strong sense of civic responsibility & developing ethical leadership is an important goal of the program
Our approach is to develop the skills and build the potential of young people who want to create their own solutions to the social and/or environmental challenges they experience in their communities. To do this, we provide support in the form of mentoring, networking, and funding in the range of Rs. 10000 - Rs. 20000 depending on the scope and potential of the project.
Grants for the 2021 program will be launched in April 2021. To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Be 13-21 years old.
- A registered member of Youth connect
- Submit a written application and project proposal.
- Have earned at least 1000 points under the Youth connect members Rewards & Recognition programme
We are looking at a focus towards benefiting developing countries to address any or all of the following topics: children’s education, the environment, or global development. If your project does not strictly fall into these categories but still serves a similar social justice cause and exhibits a high degree of merit, it may still be considered for funding.
We will not open or review unsolicited grant requests that do not go through official Youth connect channels or meet the above criteria. The judges will make their decision using the above criteria, so please use these as a guideline in making your submission.
